Ronnie Clarke is an emerging artist living and working in Toronto, Ontario.
Since a very young age, she has always understood the world through movement. Having started out as a painter, her practice has since taken on a performative nature, where she often works with media, performance and installation. Her background as a former ballet dancer continues to influence her work with gesture, choreography, and movement. Clarke’s current work often overlaps with her image practice. Her performances are often accompanied and translated into poetry, drawings, video and textile objects.
Clarke’s practice is also rooted in the Greater Toronto Area, where she has worked as the Community Outreach and Cultural Events Coordinator at the Varley Art Gallery in Markham, ON. During her time at Varley, she has lead and designed arts programming and workshops for all ages. She takes pride in her past positions as President of the Visual Arts Supporters Association and as the Digital Resources Intern at The Department of Visual Arts at Western University.
Clarke has performed and exhibited professionally at a number galleries and performance venues such as Forest City Gallery (London), Artlab Gallery (London), Trinity Square Video (Toronto), and Xpace Cultural Centre (Toronto).
